GQ's hypocrisy

GQ’s Hypocrisy Knows No Bounds

Opinion

I honestly think some of my friends send me links to articles so they can watch the that vein on the side of my head start to pulsate as I get more and more pissed reading the lies that the liberal media gets away with publishing.  Today, it was an article that GQ published about the gun rights rally that took place in Virginia four days ago.  The hypocrisy of the whole thing just blows me away.

GQ published an article, titled “That Pro-Gun Rally in Virginia Wasn’t Exactly “Peaceful” and for a graphic, they chose a swastika made from AR-15 rifles. Really?  Apparently they are not even going to pretend to be the slightest bit neutral anymore.

The author, Talia Levin, mentions that there were 22,000 people there and that a great many of them were armed.  She says it was a miracle that no one was shot, and that mass violence did not erupt.

Levin says that there were some attending who openly had patches or tattoos linking them to racist groups, and that there were allowed to “freely mingle” with all the other people there.  I’m not sure what she expected anyone to do.  Is she suggesting that people should prevent other people with whom we disagree from being in certain areas or from expressing their ideas?  That seems awfully…  what is the word for it?  Oh yeah, fascist.

“No one was shot—a frankly extraordinary turn of events given the sheer amount of weaponry, the density of the crowd, and the weapons stuffed casually into backpacks or held loosely in the crooks of pale arms.”

Pale arms? Seriously? What is it about liberals that they are so obsessed with skin color? There were plenty “people of color” present at the rally, including this man who spoke to a Breitbart reporter.

Levin, while discussing all the violence that did not happen, drops this melodramatic jewel…

All this confidence belied the fact that bloodshed—great and heavy and perhaps unprecedented on American soil—was narrowly averted. A federal motion for detention released Tuesday revealed that three members of neo-Nazi terror group The Base had planned to attend Monday’s rally in Virginia, kitted out with a home-built, functioning fully-automatic rifle capable of firing several rounds at a time; survival gear; and 1,500 rounds of ammunition. They had planned to open fire into the crowd.

“Narrowly averted”…  From the actual court document she is referring to:  “On January 16, 2020, the defendants were arrested pursuant to federal criminal complaints.” The rally was on January 20, 2020. Additionally, the suspects were arrested in Maryland, not Virginia. Finally, the arrests were the result of an extremely long investigation that only recently had some possible ties to the pro-gun protests at the Virginia capital.

Additionally, Levin’s complete lack of knowledge about firearms is evident when she mentioned the single AR-15 that the three racists, anarchist morons had. In reading the court document, the suspects completed an 80% AR lower and somehow appear to have accidentally (from the statements) made it full-auto. It most definitely is not “capable of firing several rounds at a time” as she asserts. Levin apparently misunderstood some quotes in the court document, and lacking basic firearms knowledge, took the suspects’ (the previously mentioned morons) comments literally.

Her claim that it was not a peaceful rally is based on the fact that three racist, anarchist morons were planning on attending, but could not because they were in jail in another state.

She further explains that it was not peaceful because the people who walked around peacefully protesting against the government’s plan to violate their constitutionally protected rights were a mob and that there “was the promise that bloodshed might happen at any time.”

Levin appears to be that person who every cop out there knows. They ask a question and you answer it. They do not like the answer, so then you get the never ending series of “what if” questions. There is no making this person happy. This peaceful rally was only peaceful because none of the what if’s actually happened.

Sorry, got sidetracked. Back to the discussion of the armed white supremacists who very nearly almost killed every living thing in sight in Virginia…

Debunking GQ's hypocrisy - a calm, peaceful crowd in VA

The photo above of that scary group of racist white people was taken by a friend of mine who attended the rally.  See how the people are pretending to be calmly, peacefully standing around, not breaking things, not burning buildings, not smashing cop cars and notably not stringing up “people of color” while chanting racist garbage.  By the way, my friend who took the photo happens to be a cop, and a black guy.

Also, as we have already discussed, my friend who took that photo was not remotely the only cop there participating. In fact, a large number of Sheriff’s attended the rally alongside the other citizens who were there.

The threat of white supremacist violence, despite resulting in multiple shooting massacres against black people, Jews, and Latinos in the last several years, has yet to pierce the national consciousness as the vast and threatening specter it is.

She claims there has been a rash of racist whites attacking blacks, Hispanics and Jews here in the US over the last few years.  Not sure what qualifies as a few years for her, but in looking at incidents dating back to 2016 (four years) I was able to find six total attacks on Jews, and only five of those involved firearms.  Of those attacks, two were carried out by white men, two by middle eastern men, and two by blacks, one was a solo black male and the other was a black male and female couple who carried out the attack.

As for attacks on black churches, I had to go back to 2015 (is that still a “few” years??) to find a single incident of a shooting at a black church. And yes, I will concede that incident was indeed carried out by a racist white man.  Here in the US, there are lots of other mass shootings involving blacks as the victims.  In fact, they happen on a near weekly basis in Chicago.  The problem with trying to include all of those shootings is that all the suspects are also black, and nearly all of those incidents are gang related.  They have absolutely have nothing to do with the horrible, evil white nationalists that author is attempting to blame for everything.

In terms of the attacks on Latinos she talks about, again I could only find one – the El Paso, Texas shooting that took place in a Walmart. In that instance, the suspect was definitely racially motivated and he was indeed white.  Aside from that single incident, I was unable to find any other incidents that would remotely qualify, that is once you remove gang shootings.

You see, to the liberal media, the news is not about what actually happened, but is more about what they perceive happened, or did not happen.  In this case, the peaceful protests where no one was injured, and where the protesters in fact went back and cleaned up after themselves, was not peaceful.  BUT the actual riots, and yes, I mean riots that took place in Ferguson, MO, where people were hospitalized and where countless buildings and business were destroyed, many burned to the ground, that was merely a “protest.”  Please, do not take my word for it, read what GQ had to say about Ferguson in November, 2014.

Sadly, the extreme hypocrisy exhibited by GQ in the way they covered these topics is not remotely limited to them.  It is endemic of the entire liberal news media.  In reality, the gun community is as diverse as the population, and the quickest growing segment of the gun community is actually women shooters.  The gun community is much more than the old white guys who like to hunt that the liberal media likes to admit.

It should really come as no surprise that the author, one Talia Lavin, sees racism where there was none.  Apparently, she sees racism in just about everything.  In fact, she was recently fired from, oh sorry, resigned from The New Yorker where she quite ironically worked as a “fact checker” after she falsely accused an ICE agent of having a racist tattoo.

There were 22,000 people at the Virginia capital, according to the lowest estimates I have seen, on January 20th.  Most of them were armed.  If we gun owners were even 1/4 as violent as these liberal news outlets claim we are, the rally in Virginia would have ended very differently.

I am very sick of being portrayed as the enemy all the time by the liberal media. I get it coming from all angles.  I am a white male, a conservative, a gun owner, and I was a cop.  I am the devil incarnate if you ask the liberal media.

About seven years ago, I decided I would no longer sit quietly by and let them paint me as something I am not.  I am proud to have served my community as a cop, and I am proud to still support and defend the entire Constitution, including the rights of all Americans to own guns.

The liberal media’s hypocrisy knows absolutely no bounds.
