Suspect in WA Crime Spree Armed with AK-47

News

According to a report by Komo News, there was a crime spree Tuesday October 8, 2019 that occurred in the early morning hours. This happened in Elma, Washington and the responding agency was the Elma Police Department. A loaded AK-47 was recovered from the suspect.

At around 3am, they received several 9-1-1 calls in sequence. The callers were reporting burglaries that were in progress.

The first victim told the cops that after the front door to his home was kicked open, he armed himself and confronted the intruder. That victim told the cops that the intruder was armed with an AK-47.

After the third call, the cops managed to get ahead of the suspect and located him in a driveway. They told the suspect to surrender but instead, he ran off.

A fourth 9-1-1 call came in as the cops attempted to locate the suspect, and the latest caller was reporting yet another burglary.

When the cops arrived at the fourth scene, they spotted the suspect attempting to steal a car. They tried to take him into custody but he resisted and a fight ensued. Eventually the officers got the suspect under control, but not after he received some minor injuries for which he was later treated.

After securing the suspect, the cops examined the car he was attempting to steal. Inside they located a loaded AK-47, including a round in the chamber.

Now for the shocking part (<- sarcasm), and where this news story gets a bit of opinion inserted…

The suspect, believe it or not, was a prohibited person… Gasp! Eek! Shocking, right?

Well, not really. In fact, this is definitely not shocking to anyone who has worked for any length of time as a cop.

You see, the overwhelming majority of armed criminals that I encountered in my entire career had illegally obtained the gun they were using, and most of them were already prohibited persons. As an added bonus, I was a cop in California, you know, the state with ALL of the gun control laws the left swears will prevent gun crime.

The fact that armed criminals obtain their guns illegally is not just supported anecdotally though. In fact, there are multiple studies that have all determined that to be the case, no matter what part of the country they were performed, and no matter how loose or strict the gun laws in that area were.

Since it is readily apparent that criminals do not obey laws, it only stands to reason that they will continue to ignore any new laws aimed at preventing them from obtaining firearms. Which should lead one to wonder, just who are gun control advocates really trying to disarm?
