Armed Robber Shot & Killed By Store Clerk

News

In Dayton, OH on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, a attempted robbery suspect entered a Dollar General store armed with a gun, but instead of leaving with money, he was shot and killed in self-defense by a store employee who was legally armed.

According to WDTN 2 News, at about 6:20pm the suspect entered the store armed with a handgun which he pointed at a clerk and demanded money. The clerk pulled out their own gun and shot the suspect, who then attempted to run away but fell to the ground and died just a few steps outside the store entrance.

The police investigating the incident noted that the clerk was legally in possession of the gun and they said the clerk shot the suspect in self-defense.

The deceased suspect was identified by the coroner as Roosevelt Rappley (23). No one aside from the suspect was injured during this incident.

And now for the rest of the story…

In less than shocking news based on my experience as a career cop, Rappley was no stranger to crime or guns. In fact, he was arrested just barely more than a month ago on gun charges.

Additionally, in what has become the new norm , loved ones of the deceased armed felon were given the stage by one of the local news stations, WHIO 7 News.

Those loved ones, , chose to blame the victim of the crime for the death of the Rappley, rather than acknowledging that his death was a consequence of his own actions. Seriously, you cannot make this stuff up.

Let me say this a clearly as I possibly can: The only person to blame for Rappley’s death is Rappley himself.

Decisions in life carry consequences, and one of the possible consequences for choosing to perform an armed robbery is that you might get killed for your efforts. To attempt to blame anyone else is ludicrous.

As always, your comments are welcome.  Be safe out there, and remember your ABC’s: Always Be Carrying.
