Armed Citizen Helps Deputy In Fight For Life

News

On Sunday, October 6, 2019, in Pulaski County, Missouri, a deputy sheriff was in a fight for their life when an armed citizen showed up and helped end the situation without the loss of any lives.

According to the press release from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy on patrol came across a disabled vehicle in the roadway. They contacted the three (3) occupants of the car, and one of the occupants was uncooperative from the onset.

The uncooperative subject refused to show his hands, eventually attacking the deputy and a fight ensued. During the fight, the deputy saw that the suspect was armed with a knife.

The other two occupants from the disabled car attempted to help the deputy and were able to get the knife away from the suspect, but the fight was not over. According to the deputy, the suspect attempted to grab the deputy’s gun.

An armed citizen also intervened, and eventually the suspect was taken into the custody without anyone being shot.

The uncooperative suspect, identified as Bernard Bailey, was offered treatment for his injuries, but refused. He was transported and booked into the Pulaski County Jail.

The sheriff’s department thanked the community for their help, saying “Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department is not only overwhelmed with gratitude for the safety of our Deputy, but the willingness of the citizens that chose to help.”

This incident is just one of many similar occurrences where armed citizens have helped save the lives of cops who were in a fight for their lives, which is why the overwhelming majority of working street cops support the second amendment.
