How Groups Can Communicate Securely in These Trying Times

Police Perspective

If you’re a conservative, it’s time you start communicating like a drug dealer. The democrats have shown their true colors and they are being backed by the big tech companies. If they are willing to censor conservative voices and shut down our flow of information, what makes you think they won’t monitor your communication? It’s time to switch to secure communications.

LEO’s Pay Special Attention: They’re Coming After You

This is especially important if you are a police officer. Seattle PD and Oakland PD are both going after active cops for attending the Trump Rally on January 6th in Washington DC. Even though these officers did not partake in the fiasco at the Capitol Building, they are being threatened with termination simply for exercising their 1st Amendment right. These tips should be used by you every day, honestly. I’ve been told of agencies like LAPD who write criminal warrants for phone data on their officers during administrative investigations. This is completely unlawful. Criminal warrants can only be issued for criminal investigations. But that didn’t stop them.

These tactics are the same tactics that I saw drug dealers use while I was working Narcotics. I’ve learned from what they’ve done and it was effective. It kept us from furthering our investigations. I’m not giving away any state secrets and I’m not helping you commit crime. To be clear, this is not to cover your crimes. This is to prohibit rogue agents or the tech companies from spying on you.

I can’t believe I’m even writing this article, but current events have proven that anything is possible. So, stop texting and making regular calls and do this.

How to Get/Use a Burner Phone

If you are going to go to a rally or some other event, you need a burner phone. A burner is an inexpensive mobile phone that is designed for temporary use, after which it can be thrown away. Burners are purchased with prepaid minutes and without a contract.

Many stores sell phones like this. Wear your favorite hoodie that doesn’t have any logos on it like your favorite sports team. Put the hoodie over your head, make sure there is a ball cap on underneath and wear eyeglasses. Don’t wear sunglasses. You don’t want to look like the unabomber. This is the one time you want to abide by a mask mandate. Masks mandates are the best thing to operate covertly. Put that mask on and then head into the store.

Buy that no contract phone with cash. Don’t use your credit card. You can ask the clerk to set the phone up for you if you want. If they ask for a name from you, just give them a fake name. When I worked undercover, I used the name Walter White. Seriously. No one ever batted and eye. One time I wrote a warrant for a drug dealer’s phone records. The owner of the phone was “Daddy, Sugar.” You can’t make this up.

If you have to set the phone up yourself, head over to starbucks in the same outfit you wore to get the phone and set up your phone using their wifi. Make sure you don’t park your car in front so that people can see your license plates and vehicle description.

Now you can use all of the services below to communicate securely. Give this phone number only to people you need to communicate securely with during your rally. Make sure that the phone you call isn’t someone that can be connected back to you. It should only be other burner phones.

Most importantly, make sure the phone isn’t on when you are on your way home or at home. It appears some police agencies are using criminal warrants to track their officers phones to see if they were at the capitol even though it’s an administrative investigation (this is illegal).

Use a VPN

A VPN is a virtual private network. You should be using this every single day on all of your devices. No exceptions. A VPN gives you online privacy and anonymity by creating a private network from a public internet connection. VPNs mask your internet protocol (IP) address so your online actions are virtually untraceable. Most important, VPN services establish secure and encrypted connections to provide greater privacy than even a secured Wi-Fi hotspot. Using public WiFi is like having unprotected sex with a hooker. You’re going to get dirty and ripped off.

I’ve been using a VPN for years on all of my computers and phones. It has cut down on my spam and awkward advertisements. I use a VPN that does not log my activity and is based in Panama. Panama will not honor a search warrant for records from the United States without a lot of bureaucracy. I’ll link to a connection in Mexico for an added layer. So, that means that if someone looked at my IP address while I’m surfing the net, it will show that I’m in Guadalajara Mexico. If they were able to get info from the server in Mexico, their next step is to go to Panama for more information. But it will stop there because my VPN does not keep logs.

To put it in simpler terms, not using a VPN is like driving a car down the street and everyone can see who you are. Using a VPN means you are driving down the highway with no license plates and blacked out windows and no one can see inside. They can see that your there, but it’s almost impossible to find out who you are.

The VPN is going to be used on your personal cell phone and your computers, so don’t stress out too much about using your credit card to pay for it.

Using a VPN is super cheap. I like using NordVPN (the one that I use).

Encrypt Your Text Messages

Your text messages can be intercepted and can be gathered through a subpoena. I text regular people when I’m having regular conversations. But, if I am going to text people in my group about how big tech is infringing on our rights, I use Signal. Signal keeps only minimal logs on users. Back in 2016, the feds served a subpoena on Signal App to get information on two phone numbers. They received almost no information back because of how Signal works. That makes me feel pretty good using it. There are other encrypted messaging systems, but this is the one most widely used.

Encrypt Your Phone Calls

Phone calls can be monitored. If you communicate with others, you can use Signal App to communicate securely via video or voice only. It’s very tough to monitor your verbal communication through Signal App. To be honest, most of your communication should be voice on a secure channel instead of writing something down in a text (even Signal) or an email. All of those can be shown to someone and photographed or a screen shot made.

Use Email Encryption

Standard email can be intercepted. I wouldn’t use email anyways to get out communications that your worried about. These emails can be printed or shown to others. But, if you want to have a conversation with someone and don’t want everyone to see it outside of your group, use Protonmail. Protonmail is based out of Switzerland and is encrypted end to end. Again, don’t put something in writing that you don’t want seen by everyone, but if you have to it is more beneficial to use Protonmail.

Use a Fake Social Media Account

Social media profiles and pages have been getting shut down with increasing frequency over the last few days. If you are on Facebook and Twitter, I recommend using an alternate account with a fake name (not too fake) so that when they shut you down, you aren’t losing your personal profile.

Wrapping It All Up

Censorship is real and it is only conservatives that are being censored. It’s important that we let our voices be heard and it’s important to keep our communication open between each other. It’s important that you do it securely and protect yourself the best you can.

In the meantime, keep the information going and keep training. Bad days are ahead.
